Simple pine cabinets in a custom two-colour wash, with hand finished glazing, honed granite countertops and polished limestone floors and backsplash were a sophisticated way of updating a seventy-five year old home.
  The original tiny kitchen was enlarged with a four-foot glassed-ceiling addition, which adds much-needed workspace. Large windows facing east bring in lots of light and create an immediate connection with the patio and pool.
  Now this kitchen really is the heart of the home.
