The layout of this kitchen is a perfect marriage of form and function. Inspired by the country location of this home, we chose durable granite countertops, maple cabinets that were painted, hand-rubbed and glazed for a rustic look and a wood floor made from reclaimed fir planks. At the end of the counter, a special cabinet displays glassware and other decorative items while hiding the toaster oven behind the lower doors. Rough, exposed beams conceal task lighting and visually separate the kitchen from the dining area. The seven-by-four foot island features a custom-designed wine rack, a large work area, a sink for prepping vegetables and comfortable seating. The resulting space is both beautiful and functional. |
